How can counseling help me?
Being healthy both mentally and emotionally are crucial to being able to enjoy your life. With counseling, you can learn to live fully and think clearly about living meaningfully.
The benefits of counseling include improved self awareness, self esteem, clarity, perspective and improved realtionships.
Counseling provides a safe space for self expression. We are not here to judge you, but rather to help and support you.
Counseling is a great way to learn new helpful coping skills to use when the going gets tough. The challenges and stressors of life can test us, and coping skills empower us and allow us to get through these difficult times.
How much do counseling sessions cost? Can I use insurance to pay for sessions?
I am not currently accepting insurance payments. When credentialed, I will receive Medicaid, Medicare, Cigna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. If I am out of network with your insurance, I will provide the counseling visit information to enable you to seek reimbursement.
Counseling fees are collected at each session’s beginning and accepted in cash, check, debit, or credit card.
- Initial Assessment/Consultation/First Session (60 min) $125
- Individual therapy (adult or adolescent 50 min.) $100
- Couple’s Counseling (50 minutes) $125.00
I reserve the right to change my fees once a year, each January 1st.
What should I expect when getting started?
During your first session there will be lots of questions. I will be listening to get to know you, your history, your needs and to get a picture of your life. This will assist us in building a pathway for your healing journey.
Some of the questions that may be explored are what made you decide to try counseling? What are your goals? Do you have a family history of the issues that you are experiencing? What are your current relationships like?
You may have questions for me. This is a good time to confirm if working together will be a good fit.
Are my sessions confidential?
All our communication becomes part of the clinical record, accessible to you upon request. I will keep confidential anything you say as part of our counseling relationship, with the following exceptions:
- You sign a release form authorizing me to disclose information to a given person, agency, or institution
- There is evidence or reasonable suspicion of abuse and/or neglect of someone related to you who is a minor child, elderly, or disabled adult
- Reporting imminent danger to client or others
- Reporting under court order directing me to disclose information pertaining to your treatment,
- Providing information concerning licensee case consultation or supervision consultation or supervision. My supervisor is bound by the same requirements of confidentiality)
- Defending claims brought by client against licensee
Do you offer counseling for addiction or substance abuse?
Yes. I am a certified clinical addiction specialist.
No matter where you are on your recovery journey, if you are ready to do the work, I can help to empower and support you as you find new ways of getting through each day to reach your goals.
Do you offer evening and weekend appointments? What is your cancelation policy?
Evenings: I do offer a limited number of evening appointments. Please refer to my scheduling calendar to see available appointment times.
Weekends: I do not offer weekend appointments.
Cancelation policy: In order to offer consistent and committed services, it is expected that each session will begin as scheduled. Any session that starts after the scheduled time due to late arrival, will end at its scheduled time. Unless there is an emergency, a 24hour notice is required should you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment. If this requirement is not met, a fee of $50.00 will be charged.
